Mixtape Download: Skratch Bastid & The Gaff Present: Soul Sisters, Stand Up!

I downloaded Skratch Bastid & The Gaff Present: Soul Sisters, Stand Up! roughly three weeks ago, and finally listened to it yesterday.  53 songs. 80 minutes long. Some of the greatest female soul artists of the 60s and 70s, from Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin to Honey Cone and Nancy Wilson, appear on this tape that epitomizes love, pain, passion, female empowerment, liberation and just about every other damn emotion between the sky and what’s touching the ground.. None of the songs appear in their entirety, and this is indeed a mix that includes some delicate and well-timed scratching. This mixtape is not to be taken lightly. Fuck Dedication 4 or whatever other garbage you’re eagerly anticipating. These are songs that more than a few of our mothers, grandmothers and even great grandmothers considered anthems. A mixtape combining certified classics as well as singles that were unjustly overlooked, this should be viewed as worthy of ownership by anyone who even remotely loves music. Soul Sisters, Stand Up! is just that damn good. The download is split into two parts. Do yourself a favor and add this tape to your music library. You’re welcome.
